Chooch, Bummy Bum and Inguele: From Child to Ma n -Child will have its World Premiere at the 2009 Fringe Festival in Toronto . From the producers that brought you hit productions like This is Our Youth, Directed by Woody Harrelson , Matt & Ben , and the Fringe New Play Contest, Chooch, Bummy Bum and Inguele: From Child to Ma n -Child is the true journey of Marcello Cabezas ' trials and tribulations growing up in a single parent Jewish family with a special cameo by his mother, Debbie and a yet to be named actor/actress to play her in certain scenes. The company is currently o n a worldwide search for an actor, male or female, who they deem worthy of playing Marcello's mother for some elements of the show. Ideally someone of name cache. Some discussions have begun . “We are a company that always is interested in offering notable international artists new creative challenges, and we think that this is definitely one of them. The Fringe is all about pushing the envelope and taking creative chances, and we believe this show is all about that. This is a once i n a lifetime type of show we believe audiences will gravitate to,” says Marcello Cabezas , star and writer of the play. In this comedic tale, we meet Marcello and his mother Debbie (to be played by a TBD actor/actress) whose relationship is legendary i n certain circles. For the first time publicly, their innermost thoughts of how they have grown together will be revealed, without…well you know. Wow, wonder how that will go. The end goal. Create a treaty, a legal document that Marcello and his REAL mom Debbie will sign off on at the end of the show. The purpose: to agree to tangible changes in their relationship. Have you ever heard of a mother and son signing such a document? And now in a public forum? Neither have we, and hence that's what excites us! In true Fringe experimental fashion , several of the top award winning theatre artists of our time including David Ferry, R.H. Thomson , Nicole Stamp and Chad Dembski will work with acclaimed film director Charles Officer to shape this story. From a script penned by Marcello Cabezas with dramaturgical wonder from Daryl Cloran and Ravi Jain , this show will prove to be one of the hits of the Fringe, because if its not, Debbie will take it personally that Toronto is not showing her messiah justice. Here's what critics say about Marcello: "(Cabezas) is a natural born -stage killer," Globe & Mail Here's what Mama says: " This is Chooch's big break. You better come out and see my precious child do his thing. I wonder who will play me!" Here's what Marcello says: "Theatrical magic will ensue. I wonder what Hollywood A-List star will play Mom. I can't believe she is going to make a cameo! Get your tickets fast!"
